Hartley Anderson helped to organise a successful conference on the work of the Atlantic Frontier Environmental Network entitled "Managing the Resources of the Atlantic Margin - a Sustainable Future?". AFEN is an innovative collaborative grouping of UK Government bodies and oil companies operating to the west of the Scotland which aims to improve the basis for environmental management in this harsh, deep water frontier region. Over 170 delegates attended the conference held in Edinburgh 4/5 December 2001 where John Hartley presented a paper "Ecological Interrelationships in the Atlantic Margin". Hartley Anderson also had a stand with posters of seabed mapping and environmental monitoring in the Clair oilfield, and on the DTI Strategic Environmental Assessment process (managed jointly for the DTI with Geotek Ltd). |
